UPDATE: In case this helps someone else, I installed it here and it seems to be working fine.
site-root/wp-content/plugins/files/civicrm/extensions/

Newbie question.... Have searched forums & documentation, but can't figure this out...
Which of these would be the correct directory in which to install the CiviDiscount extension?
(I need to specify the extensions directory in the Upload Directories Settings as well.)

site-root/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/
or
site-root/wp-content/plugins/files

or

You should be able to install this through the Extensions manager (Administer>System Settings>Manage Extensions). You will need to set the directory, which it sounds like where your questions comes in. If you haven't yet done so the Extension manager will prompt you to do so. There are links to set the CiviCRM Extensions Directory (path) and the Extension Resource URL. You will need to create the folder. I create it here: /wp-content/plugins/files/civicrm/.

Once set you should be able to install the Discount Extension with the link in the Extension Manager under the tab 'Add New'
