Event Registration - Default Contact Type
August 02, 2013, 01:56:46 pm
When folks register for events, their contact type is being set to Individual. I want this to be a sub-type that I have created for volunteers. Is there any way for the new registrant contact type to be set to the sub-type?

There does not seem to be an easy way of changing the contact type after the registration either. There was one solution that involved using the merge process to change the type but that looks a bit kludgy.

Am I missing something during the event configuration?

Any pointers appreciated.

We are using version 4.2.7, BTW.

Might want to try and see what the behavior is with 4.3

if you cannot do it via the UI / profiles, your next best bet would be to do it via a hook (on the event reg confirmation form)

seems like this could be a common request, so a more generic fix might be worth it (i.e. setting the contact to the type indicated by the profile). if you can take a look and patch the code to do the needful that would be awesome
