forums but to find it is hard since the keywords are so generic.
The problem is that a contacts website field, if entered wrong, creates CT errors.
So if someone somehow enters no http then later it is a bear to fix?
The version is 1.8 did this get changed in the later 1.9s?

Looks like this has been fixed in the 2.1 release: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2829

OK. I think I understand what's going on now. When I did the initial search for this in the issue tracker, I found a post for it in March of 08 that (I thought) indicated that the issue was fixed in release 2.1. This was incorrect. Had I read the issue description more carefully, I would have realized that the March fix was to correct an issue with a previous fix as follows: In release 1.9.12432, if you tab to the website field in a contact record, "http://" is automatically inserted in the field. If you leave the "http://" in the field but don't complete the rest of the url, you get an error message when you save the record. So you either have to remove the "http://" or complete the url. I believe the fix in 2.1 is to correct this behavior: if the only value in the website field is "http://", Civi will not generate an error. It will ignore the "http://". Someone please correct me if I am mistaken.

The fix for this (ignore "http://" in the Website field if that's the only characters present) has been implemented in 2.1:
http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2829

2.0.1 still complains of an invalid URL if the field contains "http://" - however, I haven't seen any problem when I "correct" the input value by either clearing out the field or entering a complete URL and saving the record.
