Name Display format customisation in search display
August 05, 2013, 04:31:29 am
Dear Sir,

thank you very much for your help in my previous question about Grand.
kindly help me to change the sort order in search display (find attached image)
I need the default search order should be { Firstname , Last name}.

in my attached image, (Ex: A, Ammu <===> Ammu, A) we need student name first & initial last (Since in INDIA, Tamilnadu state we only use fathers first name as our initial)
kindly help me the system will sort the contact List according to the First name

also in Quick Search.

Go to Administer menu -> Customize Data and Screens -> Display Preferences, and scroll to the bottom.  Set the Individual Sort Name Format - and probably the Individual Display Name Format as well.

I don't know if this will change all your existing records, or just the new records and records you re-save.  If you have too many records to re-save, there's a trick that will make things easier:  You can export JUST a list of contact IDs for all your contacts, then reimport them.  No new information will be imported, but the import operation will cause all your contacts to be re-saved!
