Change reCaptcha theme
August 07, 2013, 05:57:52 am
Hi everyone,
We want to change the theme of the reCaptcha that's presented on our Civi forms from the default red theme to the 'clean' theme, as described by Google here: https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/customization
Now this is possible in Drupal in the settings for the Captcha and reCaptcha module. That works on Drupal pages.
However, at least on the Contribute page (CRM/contribute/form/contribute/main.tpl) it doesn't work.
I think the reason for this is that Google requires the code necessary to change the custom theme to be placed above the location of the reCaptcha code in the document, and we won't be able to do that without adjusting the main.tpl file above.
Being always happier to find an admin route to these things rather than modifiying files, I thought it would be good to check first if there is any way to modify the placement of the Captcha code in CiviCrm through it's admin interface.
Or shall we just change the main.tpl file or it's captcha.tpl file that calls it?

Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

Found the answer to our own question!

To alter the reCAPTCHA theme in CiviCRM:
To alter this theme go to administer/ systems settings/ Undelete, Logging and ReCAPTCHA.
The theme can be changed at the bottom of the page - when this field is blank the default colour is red.

Hope this is helpful to others.
