Creating a new theme for CiviCRM using Taxonomy
April 03, 2008, 04:13:34 pm
Hi, we have installed CiviCRM and our default Drupal theme is not working (it's too narrow) for CiviCRM.  We have used Taxonomy to create different templates for different areas of the site.  I would like to use Taxonomy to create a new template for CiviCRM. I have uploaded a new theme, enabled it in Taxonomy, but CiviCRM is still using the default theme.   It's not working how I expected.

Do CiviCRM and Taxonomy work together?  If so, how?

The big picture is...  How would I make modifications to our default theme to have it be WIDER for CiviCRM only, is there another module I should use?

dont know anything about taxonomy and theming. this forum topic might help you out a bit: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,2864.0.html with regard to having a specific civicrm theme.

You might also want to check this drupal module: http://drupal.org/project/civicrm_theme

Thank you I have checked out the thread and CiviCRM_Theme.  Unfortunately CiviCRM_Theme doesn't have any documentation online, installation instructions in the .tar and doesn't appear to do anything once it is enabled.  I have contacted the author for clarification about how his module works.

FYI, once installed the civicrm_theme module creates an extra option for CiviCRM only templates at www.yoursite.com/your_civicrm_dir/admin/settings/admin

Can anyone offer some assistance with civic_theme. Drupal 6.3, Civicrm 2.1, civicrm_theme is enabled, but no extra options are showing up in ../admin/settings/admin to configure the theme for the civicrm pages? Thank you!

techguide:

Are you trying to install http://drupal.org/project/civicrm_theme
Drupal 6.x compatibility is still under development.

Hi Kurund, yes I am using the development civicrm_theme module, 6.x-1.x-dev. I didn't see any issues on drupal.org posted against it, so I didn't know if others have it working with drupal 6.x and CiviCRM 2.1.beta4, and the problem is unique to my configuration - or if others are seeing the same behavior as I am.

I installed the civicrm_theme, enabled the module, used /admin/settings/admin to enable a different theme for all admin pages. Other admin pages are now using the different theme, but none of the civicrm pages are. And I'm not seeing the additional Civicrm theme selection text in /admin/settings/admin or civicrm/admin/settings/admin ?

Does anyone else have civicrm_theme successfully working in drupal 6.3 or 6.4 and civiCRM 2.1.beta4?
Thank you!

If it is of help to anyone else, I was able to accomplish applying a different theme to all /civicrm pages by using the themekey module and the taxonomy_theme module. These 6.x dev modules work with drupal 6.4 and CiviCRM 2.1.beta4.
