php .htaccess and Civicrm
August 08, 2013, 05:58:34 am
I hope this is the right spot for this question.

I have civicrm up and running and am encountering one problem. The non profit I'm working with holds a monthly luncheon. I have (as far as I can tell) the shopping cart set up properly to allow someone to make a purchase. We've been getting an error at the very end when the purchase is made - but the purchase goes through - just no confirmation at the end - only this error:

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webadmin at kundenserver.de and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

From all of my searching I think this boils down to .htacess and php. BUT - I don't know.

Any thoughts or ideas - I contact the hosting company (1and1) and I'm now looking for other hosting companies - they absolutely are doing customer support wrong.

Welcome to the CiviCRM forums. :)

Unfortunately it's not possible for us to know what might have gone wrong on your site. I wouldn't suspect that it's .htaccess, but the only way to know is to see the error message that was logged. So if your host can't help with that, then I would definitely consider switching hosts.

Yeah - that's going to be my argument last week at the board meeting. CivicRM worked on Dreamhost - it's failing with 1and1. I just adjusted the .htaccess file and was able to change the error message - but I'm still getting one.

I appreciate it - it just confirms what I need to do - move hosting providers.
