Including an option to sign up for updates in a petition

This may be a numpty question, but I'll ask it anyway.

I'm putting together a petition using CiviCRM 4.2.8 on a Joomla framework.

I'm following along with the excellent guidance in http://book.civicrm.org/user/current/petition/everyday-tasks/ to make sure I don't miss anything.
I see in the illustration on that book page that there is a final question on the displayed petition form asking the user if they want to be kept up to date with the Campaign. An excellent idea I think. I'd like to copy that.

My assumption here is that this is a setting related to the Campaign, but I can't find anything. OK, maybe it is to do with the specific Petition settings, but I can't find anything there either.

In which case I'm left with the thought that the only way to implement this question is to use a custom field, given that it must be part of the second petition profile, which itself must be setup as a custom field set, and then presumably there's a smart group that works based on the content to that custom field? But surely that's far too clumsy an approach.

Maybe it's just something that has got better in a later version? I'll check the demo, but if anyone can cast light on how they did it in the book page illustration, I'll be very happy.

Update: Checked the demo. Nada. Re-checjed the book page, and in the report screen that is displayed there it seems pretty clear that- yes, this is a custom field.

In which case I think this post should be a feature request to enable this field at a different level, probably as a Campaign setting, or as a Petition setting, whereby when you set up a campaign, all new contacts arising through that campaign automatically are offered the opportunity to be kept informed by adding them to a campaign specific group.

It is most likely the "groups" field added to the profile.
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Looks like the example was a custom field indeed.
