Profile Edit Not Supported?
August 19, 2013, 04:38:49 pm
Hi folks - I'm a new Civi CRM user and I've got it up and running in Joomla.  There are two primary things I'm trying to do with the extension.  First is to allow people to become members of our PTO.  I've got that set up as a contribution page that uses a Profile to hold data fields related to Membership.  That's working beautifully :)

The second purpose is to allow a member to edit their "Volunteer Profile" once they are a member.  To do this, I set up another Profile (called Volunteer Profile - it is just the volunteer fields from my overall Membership Profile).  What I tried to do then is through Joomla, create a Menu item from the "Profile Edit Form" menu item.  I have it set up to use the Volunteer Profile.

When I'm logged into my Joomla site as a member and try to go to that menu item, I get the following message:
"Profile search, view and edit are not supported for Profiles which include fields for more than one record type. "

I thought since all of my data fields in the Profile are set up for a Membership record I'd be okay.  Where did I go wrong?

Hi -- Did you ever find an answer to your question?  I have a similar situation, though mine works when I limit the the update form to one data type.  What I would like to do is to be able to allow the member to upgrade or renew their membership at the same time they update their general account/profile information...

I'm seeking to do something very similar. Allow someone to register via the front-end and then to edit their profile. How did you configure civiCRM so that a profile was displayed, and could be filled in my someone not logged into your site?
