still get no zip error message with alt version

I read the installation wiki and tried installing alt file from directory with no luck, still get php has ne zip ability message.  Is there another install work around?

Did you remove the previous file? And then put the alt file into /tmp and unzip it there?

The previous installation attempt did not show in the extension manager but I removed com_civicrm folders in "components" and "administrator/components" directory and then the uncompressed .alt files installed okay.  Thanks.
