Disconnected and Wrong Numbers

I am sure someone had to have suggested this in the past, but I couldn't find it when I searched.

Just like there is a "Do Not Call" there should be a wrong number, and a disconnected number. When selected, it should pull the numbers out of searches just like Do Not Call. In addition, it should be very easy to select Disconnected or Wrong number and an activity should be made so we can reference it.

Our work around is creating Phone Locations for both.

Hi there,

What is the use case for keeping a wrong number?  I'm not saying you don't have one, but I'd imagine in most cases the correct approach would be to remove the phone number.

Hi Jon,

We are cleansing and appending our data pretty regularly and we use the same data company. So the idea is that if we append the landline and mobile numbers, and we already know it is a bad record we accomplish 2 things.
1. We can let the data company know that they have bad data
2. We do not need to waste our time calling a number we already know is bad.

If you have another way of doing it please let me know, we are new to Civi and still trying to figure things out.

I'm afraid I don't - this is a conversation I was having with one of my clients though.  We decided in their case to use either phone type or location type, I don't recall.

For addresses, we added an address custom field, but you can't currently append a custom field to a phone record.  That's conceivably the solution, though it seems like a lot of work given that the workaround is reasonably effective.  I guess someone who needs it badly enough will code it or sponsor it.

This has come up in the past a couple of times (for both addresses and phone numbers). So definitely might be a good addition to the core to add this feature. If we can do this as an extension, even better
