Import - Mapping Field error
August 29, 2013, 05:58:18 am
Hey,

I am trying to import some data into a custom field, basically 'How do you want to get involved' for contacts in our database. There are up to 6 options that could be chosen at a time, but at the moment I am only trying to import one of the possible answers for the field in a .csv file.

I've so far been unable to get Civi to recognise the data I'm inputting for that field in the .csv file, and so cannot import and update the contacts. I exported some other contacts with the same fields to see how the data should be displayed, but it still won't go even with matched up data from that.

Contact Type: Individual
Redupe: IndividualStrict - Strict

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I suspect that this has to do with the separation character used, but maybe not, if I understand "at the moment I am only trying to import one of the possible answers for the field" correctly.

Can you paste an example of the field as it's exported from a record that has the correct data, and also paste an example of the field as it is in your .csv file?

Also, can you check the MySQL database to check what the values are on the fields you've imported?  Note that if you use a method that won't display control characters (such as phpmyadmin) it may look like the values were successfully imported when you view the MySQL database.
