Date fields in Detail template

It seems to me that there should be an easy way to make the native date fields (date created and date modified) part of the Contact Detail Report Template, at least for viewing purposes.

Before I go ahead and wrestle with creating an entirely new templates (quite a learning curve) I thought I would check to see if someone already solved this problem. 

I'm eyeing the ExtedReports extension, but I see nothing about this in the description.

Anyone dealt with this one.  If I could just includes those dates in some of my reports, it would allow me to go so far, without completely taking the hood off the car.

Adding additional fields to an existing report should not be too hard. If you do a search you might find a date created/modified report extension (i just have some vague memories on someone doing this)
