Email processor adds the autofiler email to contacts

I have a dedicated email account, activities@example.org, for the email to activity autofiler. Setting it up per the wiki...

...it works. Interestingly, however, the autofiler email activities@example.org is not excepted from processing and is added as a contact. Over time this unwanted contact will accumulate thousands of activities to no purpose. Is this expected behavior, or have I misconfigured something?

i dont think the email processor makes an exception for any email address :( There are a few hooks that you can potentially use to suppress filing (dont remember them off the top of my head, but most likely are documented on the wiki page)

Might be worth adding this as an optional feature to the email processor code. Should be a relatively easy patch

Thanks for the quick and authoritative reply. I'm relieved to know that I didn't misconfigure something and that this is expected behavior. And if thousands of organizations use CiviCRM without finding this a problem, then my organization should be able to live with this behavior, too.
