SMS - Clickatell in 4.4 Beta ?

Is there a plan to upgrade the Clickatell extension for 4.4 ?  A couple of my installs regard this as essential!
I installed the existing 4.3 extension in 4.4 Beta 1 and it crashed... I then engaged brain and realised the extension hadn't been updated for 4.4.  Which raises a design concern... shouldn't Civi have refused to install a non-compatible extension?

Clickatell extension should work fine in 4.4 ( although it says  it is compatible with 4.3 ). What error do you get?

You're right, initially it crashed in Alpha1.  Now I have uninstalled it, then re-converted to 4.4 Beta2 and re-installed Clickatell, it works fine!   ;)
