Multiple CiviCRM versions in multisite Drupal install?
September 12, 2013, 04:36:57 am
In an effort to group together several CiviCRM instances on one server using different URLs, I'm wondering if there's any technical reasons why I can't run a single Drupal version/database and have three separate versions of CiviCRM installed as site specific modules with separated CiviCRM databases.

Experiments to date took a CiviCRM module installed in sites/all/modules and moved to sites/sitename1/modules. That seemed to work. Then I installed a fresh new copy of CiviCRM in sites/sitename2/modules referencing the same Drupal database and ran the CiviCRM installer. That seems to work.

Now when I go back to sitename1, I get the white screen of death. I rechecked the URI's and all seem OK. Does CiviCRM store anything in the Drupal tables that prevents this version mixing?

Thanks.

I don't think so.

But does your site1 civicrm.settings.php refer to the correct codebase location?

civicrm.settings.php DOES point to the right location. On a hunch I cleared out the templates_c folder and revisited the site and all appears to work again.
