Hello all!

We are trying to place several fields on each member’s annual appeal letter: the total they have given to-date, how much they gave in total last year, and address and salutation info. We need the data to be in CSV format for mail merge.

Only primary memberships contain donation data, so there is only one record to deal with as far as families or organizations go.

I have looked into exporting via Advanced Search (current members) and cannot find a yearly gift total to export under Select Fields for Export. I’ve looked at all of the Contribution Reports and apparently none of them except Contribution History by Relationship Report have yearly contribution totals.

Unfortunately that report does not seem to have the option to turn off the clumping by relationship (thus some people with a relationship but who have not given show up), it does not look at membership status, and it does not allow for exporting contact address info.

Can anyone point me to where I can look at/access yearly gift fields or if they even exist in a flexible exportable format?

We did upgrade to 4.3.4 (not yet to the most recent) so I'll give that extension a try.

Thanks for the second angle to approach this issue! The process you described does part of what we need. The missing piece is to have summary data for two years "in the same row" so it can be exported and merged easily. This approach ends up with one or two rows per record.

Do you happen to know how one could merge two rows in an Excel spreadsheet based on whether the address, for example, was the same? Then we could use this approach.
