Info missing from Bookkeeping transaction report
September 20, 2013, 07:49:20 am
One of our test sites has recently been upgrade to 4.4 beta 3.  (Our live site is still on 4.2)

When I run the bookkeeping transaction report there is a line for each transaction, however some information is missing as summarised below:

A. Information always present:
  • Contact name
  • contact Id
  • Receive date
  • invoice Id
  • Contribution status
  • Contribution #

B. Information always missing:
  • Financial Type
  • Payment Instrument
(and perhaps
  • Financial Account Code - Debit
  • Financial Account Code - credit
  • Financial Account Name - Debit
  • Financial Account Name - credit
As the transactions were processed in Civi 4.2 I don't know whether or not I should expect this data to be generated for the 4.4 report.)

C. Information only present if payment instrument was credit card (Used report on live site to work this out as payment instrument doesn't show on test site report)
  • transaction date
  • trans #
  • Amount

Cheque number also never shows.  I suspect it is belongs to group C  but as there is never a cheque number for Credit Card payments I can't be sure.

Looking in the actual database I can see that the Financial Type, Payment Instrument, transaction date, trans # and Amount info is in the civicrm_contribution table - it just isn't showing in the report.

I can't replicate this in the sandbox, so I am not sure if it is an actual bug for upgraded sites or if something is wrong with just my site.

Being a user/administrator rather than an implementer/developer I don't know how to investigate further.

Thanks for helping to test the beta!! :)
This isn't something I know a whole lot about so I'm hoping someone else will jump in, but could you try to determine whether this only affects transactions present b4 the upgrade?

After a little more investigating it seems there are at least two problems one related to price sets and the other to transactions present before the upgrade.

Non-price set transactions made after the upgrade have all information displayed.

Price set transactions made using price sets created after the upgrade have all information displayed.

Price set transaction made after the upgrade but using price sets created before the upgrade have Financial Type, Financial Account code - Credit and Financial Account Name - Credit missing even if a Default Financial Type was set for the price set before the transaction occurred.

All the transactions recorded before the upgrade were based on price sets and the outcomes for those are recorded in the original post.

Of all the variations I consider the following to be a bug.

Price set transaction made after the upgrade but using price sets created before the upgrade have Financial Type, Financial Account code - Credit and Financial Account Name - Credit missing even if a Default Financial Type was set for the price set before the transaction occurred.

I would have thought that once I had set a Default financial type for a pre-upgrade price set it should become the equivalent of a post-upgrade price set.

This is not something I can test on the sand box site as there are no pre-upgrade price sets.  (As an aside, I think a price set and some price set contributions should be should be demo data.)
