Online membership receipt ignores text only setting

If a contact has an email setting of Text in communication preferences this is respected if a email is sent to them through send email.

However, the online membership receipt is sent in HTML ignoring that communication preference. 

This is also the case for 4.2.10, but it is certainly not the behaviour I would expect.
