I've done two upgrades today on a test server, one from 4.2.4 to 4.3.5 which went smoothly, and one from the resulting 4.3.5 to 4.4.beta3, which resulted in rather odd behaviour: the list of activated components reset, such that CiviReport and CiviCase (which we use a lot) were not enabled any more, while CiviMember and CiviEvent (which we don't use, and have disabled) were enabled again.

This could be related to the fact we use Word Replacement to replace the word "CiviCase" with "Study Management" - following the upgrade, CiviCase is still called CiviCase in the list of components, so clearly the relationship between Word Replacements and component names has changed between 4.3 and 4.4. The 'Administer' menu drop-down does correctly offer 'Study Management' as a menu option, so the Word Replacement is still active.

This isn't fatal behaviour, but maybe worth a footnote in the upgrade notes, to the effect that the components may reset in such circumstances.

It would be nice, but not essential, if Word Replacement still affected the component names.
