Searching for renewing members
September 23, 2013, 07:32:50 pm
I'm trying to search my system for members that have renewed their memberships before they expire.  I had been searching for these folks by using the 'member since' date, but that does not catch the folks who renew before they expire - because their member start date does not change to their renewal date.

Any help is wonderful!

Go to search>advanced search.
Open the activities tab.

Select membership renewal as the activity types

Choose an appropriate date range or set the from and to dates.

Search.

This will display the contacts who renewed memberships within the dates chosen.

If you want to also have the new membership expiry date set the Display results as field in the top RH corner to memberships before you search.

Then you can export the results choosing the fields you want to so that you have enough info to  create and then post out your membership cards.

Thanks for the help.  My system must be weird or something - I don't have an 'activity tab' under advanced search.  I have: basic criteria; address fields; custom fields; relationships; demographics; notes; change log; contributions; memberships.

I've tried several combinations of settings using what is available, but nothing that reveals

I can find a way to search for activity under search>custom search, but using that function I only get activities performed by folks who have accessed the system, not simply activities performed to memberships.

At this point, I'm pretty frustrated with my inability to search this database the way that my organization requires.

Using the membership dashboard I can find renewals, but only for month-to-date and whole month chunks.  We try to send out membership cards twice per week, so differentiating between total renewals for the month and the ones that have occurred recently is tricky and takes a bunch of extra steps.

HELP!

You can access the activity search from the Search Menu Bar >> Find Activities

Check and ensure that activities on the search screen is enabled here:

Thanks Lobo.
I made the changes to the display preferences, but I still can't search by activity using the search menu.

Ideas?
