I've set up a profile that a user can use to subscribe to any number of CiviCRM mailing groups. I'm finding that if the user chooses more than one group that user will get one email for each of the groups but only the first link used will actually subscribe. When the user attempts to use the link in the second email that user is never subscribed.

I found that when using the first email the user gets a confirmation pages stating which group the user was successfully subscribed to. When the user uses the second email the user gets the same confirmation page but the name of the group is not on the confirmation page. The text reads:

User@email.com has been successfully subscribed to the mailing list.

But that user was not subscribed to any mailing list and when an admin looks at that user's group you will find that user is still in pending mode for that second group.

Any thoughts on what could be happening?
