Can somebody give me a basic understanding of how files are called civicrm

I am trying to understand the flow of how files are called. For instance, if an event form is created and you click the submit what is actually being called.

The developer book at http://book.civicrm.org/ should give you a good idea

You can also look at the section called "How to find and modify the templates? " in http://book.civicrm.org/developer/current/techniques/templates/. The forms follow the exact same naming convention.
