Mass creation of cases?

I was hoping that I could do a search on a group and create cases for all the results.  I don't see this option though.  Is it possible?

That option does not exist. You could use the API to mass create cases, but that would mean some coding. What is it you want to achieve exactly?

I have sent out a mailing to 150 contacts, initiating a project that will require responses from all of them.  I have a case type set up to track their progress.  I want to create cases for each of these contacts.

I did something similar over the summer but I sure don't remember manually creating cases for each of them (84 contacts in that bunch).  I could have sworn I created them in a batch or automatically.
