Payment Processor Error message: 6:Couldn't resolve host 'nvp' [CiviContribute]
April 08, 2008, 06:43:04 pm
I am going out of my mind trying to figure out why this is happening. I had upgraded our civicrm installation from 1.7 to 2.0.1, and after the upgrade everything worked fine except CiviContribute stopped working with Paypal Web Site Payments Pro. I re-configured the new payment processor and re-saved my donation pages, but I get this error when submitting an order:

Payment Processor Error message
: 6:Couldn't resolve host 'nvp'

I have since upgraded from 2.0.1 to 2.0.2, but the problem is still there. I also created another brand new payment processor with same settings and a new contribution page to test with, still no luck. This happens on both test and live transactions. Any ideas? I'm losing money as I type this...

Thanks!

1. check this url:

http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/paymentProcessor?action=add&reset=1&pp=PayPal

and ensure that the API URL (for sandbox and live) is as the one in the demo page on your install. PayPal has introduced yet another url in its config, and i suspect there is a bug in our upgrade code and we do not account for this.

2. Can you run the above url in your install and let us know if the API URL is filled and if so what value it has

3. Can you also file an issue and we'll figure out a workaround for this in 2.0

Hey thanks so much. That did the trick. I guess I should check my other civi installations now if paypal actually changed the way it works =\.
