Problems with batch update via profile for Custom Field with Checkbox

HI - we have run in to a problem with 'batch update' that i feel we have visited before but can only suggest this one - http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,2542.msg10844.html#msg10844

I have set this up in Demo

So we have a Custom Field that has Checkbox for 'leaflets' and for 'stalls'.

There are 4 x contacts set up - the '1's and '0's are indicating if the person has leaflets or stalls already checked

Pete Testerone: 1, 0
Pete Testertwo: 1, 1
Pete Testerthree: 0, 1
Pete Testerfour: 0, 0

(You may want to use AdvSearch + Search Views = Involvement plus name = test% so you can check the four people are still set as described above ;-) in case someone else gets there first)

Use search Test% to find them all , then select T3 and T4 to batch update for 'leaflets'. This wipes the info that was already in 'stalls'

The result I then get is

Pete Testerthree: 1, 0
Pete Testerfour: 1, 0

ie it wipes the 'stalls' checkbox as is evidenced on T3.

Is this expected? Can it be sorted?

I think that either the checkboxes that show on 'Batch Update - Involvement" page needs to show the existing status - ie would show T3 with a tick in the 'stalls' column - or that the default is the multiple choice data does not get overwritten.

If not fixable, are there suitable warnings in the documentation so people don't inadvertently wipe data - like we did ;-( - when doing update (it's okay we were 'testing'  ;))

ALSO - is it already known that when using Batch Update for Custom Field (with checkbox) the function "click here to copy the value in row one to all rows" does not function

what a team  ;)

and just to clarify for others, the bug was that the Batch Update by Profile page via More Actions should be showing the data in the custom data field - which is especially important for checkbox options as there are multiple data sets in each field, which were getting wiped by the update. All good now. Looking forward to using it as it makes Updating by Profile for custom data a much better route! Yay!
