Wordpress 4.4.B4 Hangs on Registering Memberships

I've run into a challenging little issue on my demo 4.4.B4 deployment that I can't seem to shake loose. 

This is starting from pretty much a fresh install, though I've got all the deployment data in the system now.

The membership page itself looks fine, no problems there, but on clicking the 'contribute' link to submit, the contribute button changes over to "Processing" and the site hangs, not moving anywhere.   I added a dummy payment processor in addition to our Authorize.net payment processor to see if it could be a hangup with hitting that, but that did not solve the issue. 

There's one javascript error that is showing up that doesn't show up that isn't present on the sandbox:

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'length' of undefined
in jquery-1.8.3.min.js?r=NAByX:2

Any idea what could be causing this?  The site in question is located at http://test.seds.org/beta/register/

Some more information;

I did some more diagnosis and it appears that the issue, while present cross platform, is not a show-stopper in Firefox nor IE; the website works fine.

It basically appears like chrome is somehow not making any transactions after clicking the contibute button.

can you reproduce this on the demo servers which are also running the latest version of 4.4

Just quickly trying to recreate it on a 4.4.B1 Deployment (http://sandbox.wordpress.civicrm.org/), I was not able to re-create it.  However the Javascript error is still present on the sandbox; so probably unrelated though possibly another issue:

Just to close out part of this, the issue where contribute was failing in chrome no longer appears to be the case on upgrade to 4.4.0 from Beta 4
