very slow civicrm first connection
October 16, 2013, 02:27:42 pm
Just of a sudden i have started experiencing very slow civicrm connection on first login. It takes about 30 - 45 seconds to connect to civicrm after first login and once connected, the system works normally.
What happens is, I login to my site, then click on CiviCRM menu link, it takes 30 - 45 seconds to connect and after that it works normally again, this might happen 3 to 4 times a day.

Any idea as to what s happening??

Hi Kennedy,

It's hard to say without knowing more about your environment.

When you say "connect to CiviCRM", do you mean "log into Drupal"?  Or go to http://<mysite>/civicrm?
What's happening during the 30-45 seconds?  Is it showing the dashlets as "loading"? Or is it a blank screen?
What's your hosting environment?

One theory: If by "connecting to CiviCRM" you mean, "Logging into Drupal", that's probably indication that your cron isn't firing, but it's set to fire when you pull up the site.  The cron job running when you connect accounts for the initial slowness.

Hi Jon,
I mean going to http://<mysite>/civicrm
during the 30-45 seconds, It doesn't show the dash-lets as loading nor does it show a blank screen, It stays on the Drupal menu but i can see from the browser that it is trying to connect.
This is a new behavior that started just last week, we have an Ubuntu server.

thanks
