Child Board needed for Standalone Install?
April 10, 2008, 03:29:20 am
Greetings,

I'm attempting to install a standalone version of CiviCRM and most of the posts here seem to be not relevant to that task.  There is not a child board for the Standalone install so I hope ya'll don't mind if I post this here.  The admins can move it if a Standalone Installation child board is set up.

Specifically, I'm looking for instructions to manually set up the MySQL DB and not use the /civicrm/standalone/new_install_setup.php page.  I use the H-Sphere Control Panel on CentOS to set up databases and do not want to allow an installation script direct access to create databases for various reasons.  I want to create the database myself and point the CivCRM installation script to it for the table creation and initial data population.  I haven't been able to find a document that covers this...can someone point me in the right direction?

TIA

I have also tried to install the standalone civiCRM for experimentation, but don't seem to get everything right.  What is the database that it is trying to install to??  I use CPanel which uses the host name as a  prefix for the database name.  The following is the error I get:

--------------------------
Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Access denied for user 'nobody'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/echamber/public_html/civicrm/CRM/Core/Error.php on line 167

Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: A link to the server could not be established in /home/echamber/public_html/civicrm/CRM/Core/Error.php on line 167
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred. The error trace below might help to resolve the issue

Array
(
    [callback] => Array
        (

  • => CRM_Core_Error
  • [1] => handle
            )

Code: [Select]
=> -24
    [message] => DB Error: connect failed
    [mode] => 16
    [debug_info] =>  [nativecode=Access denied for user 'echamber_civicrm'@'localhost' (using password: YES)]
    [type] => DB_Error
    [user_info] =>  [nativecode=Access denied for user 'echamber_civicrm'@'localhost' (using password: YES)]
    [to_string] => [db_error: message="DB Error: connect failed" code=-24 mode=callback callback=CRM_Core_Error::handle prefix="" info=" [nativecode=Access denied for user 'echamber_civicrm'@'localhost' (using password: YES)]"]
)

------------------------------------
Thanks

Hmm, it sounds like my standalone installation script is trying to be too helpful and also asking too much trust of folks (i.e. the root database account).

I should probably open an issue in Jira to re-work this so that it lets you create the database and permissions yourself and just tell it what to use.
