SQL Syntax Error when upgrading from 4.0.4 to 4.0.5
October 17, 2013, 11:36:21 am
Hello folks, I'm getting this SQL Syntax Error when upgrading:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
DB Error: syntax error
Error Details
Database Error Code: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SELECT @campaignAdminID := id FROM civicrm_navigation where name = 'CiviCampai' at line 19, 1064

I'm adding the additional details as a txt file

Thanks for reading, hope someone can help me out !

Kind regards,
Stefaan

in general its hard for us to remember / give any suggestions for things which were done 2+ years ago (or maybe even longer)

please do report back when u find and fix the issue, since it will most likely help someone else down the road

The support provided by techies on this forum is amongst the best I have seen. (I am not a techie.)

Note that it is a “Community Support Forum” not a “Free Technical Problem-Solving Service”.

If members of the community know how to solve a problem or can suggest an approach that might help then they will do so.

It is unreasonable to expect them to invest their time in solving your problem when it relates to something released in August 2011 and superseded in September 2011 when 4.0.6 was released.  The current version is 4.4.0, released just days ago.

Hello everybody, I didn't want to upset anyone ...

I'm trying to upgrade to the latest version, but when I follow the instructions I first have to do an upgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.0.5 with the problems I cited. Is there a way to keep my data and install 4.3.7 or 4.6.0 from scratch or how should I proceed ? Hope someone here can help me out ...

Kind regards,
Stefaan

I dont think you are upsetting anyone. i think its a combination of culture, language and expectations.

I suspect u'll need to go in and debug that issue and/or pay someone to do the needful. This service just came out today:

http://support.civigardens.com/ (FYI, am not affliated and no financial involvement. I do want them to succeed though!)

finally, if things do get resolved and working, please think how you can help and support the community going forward. I think civi does a pretty decent job of community support, we can do better and we need folks to help out :)
