Joomla DB Update hangs. Is using refresh okay to make it complete?

I just upgraded from 4.2.9 to 4.3.7.

The database update hangs halfway through (at 4.3beta1 bit).
I did a backup restore and ran the install again and it got stuck in exactly the same place.
I had no error messages nor anything in server log files and I have my php timeout set to 5 mins.

I have had this happen in passed upgrades also and remembered using refresh when it got stuck, this then restarted the database update which then completed.

When I upgraded to 4.3.7 I had to do this twice.

Would this have likely caused errors in my database? or could we add this to the upgrade instructions?

Document everything!

Refreshing can potentially cause problems yes. If you have problems upgrading, I would suggest you enable debugging and try again.
