Configuring an external email address for CiviMail
October 22, 2013, 05:27:48 pm
Fairly new here, and think I just need to be pointed in the right direction of where I need to adjust the settings for our main email address that is hosted elsewhere.

1. We are currently hosting CiviCRM (4.3.7) on a WordPress platform with Civihosting, and are in the development stages.

2. Our email address is currently hosted elsewhere (Go-Daddy).

3. Whenever we send an email (Bulk or Individual; with or without template) to this email address, the sender gets a "failure notice" with "Sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.1.1)"

I am pretty sure that it is because it is looking for the mailbox on Civihosting server, and not the Go-Daddy server.

So where do I go to adjust the settings for this and what info do I need to put in? Any directions to instructions (for a layperson who tries to not muck up important programming stuffs) on how to go about this would be appreciated.

Peace,
Sandra  :-*

if i had to guess, godaddy is not happybeing the mailserver. might want to consider using the mail services at civihosting (if they offer such services). your next alternative would be to try and debug the mail code and figure out what you need to change to make godaddy happy

Thanks for the response, Donald! One question...what/where is the mail code?

CRM/Utils/Mail.php, function send (is your starting point for most mail operations)

Thanks, Lobo.

This was working correctly before we just upgraded to 4.3.7. I will see if I can find an issue with the .php.

Peace,
Sandra

Addendum: I don't seem to be able to access or find that .php file. Will contact Civihosting directly to see if it can get resolved.
