WSOD dead stop!
October 23, 2013, 02:03:54 am
An install of Civi that I'm setting up has come to a WSOD dead stop, and I'm stumped!  I upgraded to 4.3.7 when it was released and have had no problems. Yesterday I clicked on 'Add New' to add an extension to Civi and got a message from Civi that I needed the PHP ZIP module.  So, I got the hosting company to add it.  Result - WSOD when starting Civi - whatever screen I try to go to.  But Drupal is working fine!  I got the hosting company to back out the ZIP module - same result - CiviCRM WSOD, Drupal fine.  So they put the ZIP extension back.  Same result.

I've restored the database - I've re-installed Civi from scratch - same result.  I've un-installed extensions and then re-installed Civi.  I have now run out of ideas about what to do next.  Can anyone please suggest anything? something?!

Update on this WSOD problem - can anyone tell me what the problem is here?  I put some diagnostic statements in index.php, signed on and got this error.  Sorry, I'm not a PHP programmer otherwise I'd dig into this myself.

Fatal error: Invalid opcode 153/1/8. in /home/donation/public_html/sites/all/modules/civicrm/CRM/Core/Resources.php on line 214

seems like you might be using a PHP opcode cache (xcache or something?). can you disable it and see if things work? alternatively try restarting apache and that might fix it (though i suspect the issue will come back and this seems to be a bug in the php optimizer)

Thanks!  This was the hint the hosting company needed (I quoted you at them!).  It was something called "eaccelerator" that they disabled and all is well now.  Forum works...  Civi is back up and working.  Phew!
