Determining which types of Activities trigger a Notification to Assignee
October 24, 2013, 08:04:38 pm
this is cropping up in several scenarios and hoping we can work up a generic solution.

Currently at http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/display?reset=1

there is the setting

Notify Activity Assignees
When enabled, contacts who are assigned activities will automatically receive an email notification with a copy of the activity.

This is proving too 'broad brush' for several users of civicrm - and we are hoping there could be a simple way to set this on a per Activity basis.

Open to discussion and pointers or big red flags.

And given several of these are occuring after submission of a webform would be happy to hear about any lighter approach that might involve a tweak to that webform-civicrm module

maybe that setting could be switched to either:

a. all activities (i.e. what it is today)
b. a multi-select of activity types for which it should apply

will make a good patch for 4.5
