extensions supporting 4.4. should I make a new release?
October 30, 2013, 06:00:52 am
Hi,

Some of the public extensions work on 4.4 without any change, I just need to update the xml.

Should I bump the extension version anyway (because I changed the xml) or not (because I haven't changed anything else)?

Option c) Provide a comprehensive list of those versions of public extensions which haven't been tested on 4.4, and then list them here so that each member of the community can pick his or her own to test, and confirm back here when it demonstrably works as intended on 4.4. Also, flag Capo, as he is the best at this!

Doesn't solve the should I update the version number or not once confirmed working on 4.4.

But now that you mention it, they are a few extensions in the todo waiting approval for 4.3 still, you might as well directly test them on 4.4 ;)

thanks in advance

I think there's a flaw in the way we set this up. Most extensions that work on 4.3 will also work on 4.4 and probably 4.5 etc.
However, our distribution system causes them to automatically break just because the version numbers no longer match (even if it works in every other way).
How can we do this better?
For now, I'd suggest that extension devs go ahead and tag their release for 4.5 as well, unless they have a good reason not to.
