Okay, now I was busy with other things for quite a while, but now I really have to deal with the problems of our sign-up page.

I did not read for answer adequately - of course, I could change the translation, resp. I can reopen the reviewed translation.

Please tell me the exact occurence (= where to find) of the mentioned string.
You mean where to find it on a contribution page? It's the submit button, you can find our sign-up page on http://passivhaus-austria.org/index.php?q=civicrm/contribute/transact&reset=1&id=1.

In Transifex I assume it's string nr. 874 with the texts "Contribute" -> "Spenden". I guess the URL is independent of the session: https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/civicrm/translate/#de/contribute/13355541?qt=Spende

How should the translation read correctly?

In general, I would translate the noun "Spende" to "Zuwendung". Since the button refers to an action, it should maybe read as "Zuwendung bestätigen". However, that's a little long, uhh?
Hard to say as it is a string for all contribution pages. actually already the English word doesn't really fit in all contexts. For a membership sign-up I would use "Mitglied werden"/"Become member", but as it is not the last step "Weiter"/"Next step" would fit better. A general translation of "contribute" could be "zahlen", even though "Beitragen" or "Zuwenden" is the exact translation of "Contribute", but as a sign-up button that looks really weird.

I'm afraid this button text is broken by design, and it would only help if you could define this label as an admin. Is that really not possible?
Yes, "Zuwendung bestätigen" is a bit long, and what's even worse, it sounds weird.

If anybody could tell me how to change this directly in the files, this would help, too.

Thanks!

What about
Quote
Zahlung ausführen
?

And if someone does not like that text, it might be changed with the "text replacement" feature...

Okay, "Zahlung ausführen" is fine for me.

Can you tell me how that "text replacement" feature works or where I can read about it?

Thanks,
Jens

I changed the string within Transifex from "Spende" to "Zahlung ausführen".

If you want to change the string for your own CiviCRM, you can use the word replacement feature:
.../civicrm/admin/options/wordreplacements?reset=1

This is especially important for all those, that want to keep the Button label as it was ("Spende")!

Thanks for changing the string and for the hint with the word replacements, Detlev!

If I had known about the latter, it would have saved me some headache. Nevertheless, it's good that we have a more general translation.

Note that only the English original can be replaced with this feature, not the translation that you don't like. E. g. in this case I have to replace "Contribute" and not "Spenden" with "Absenden" (the label that the coordinator of this organization wants to have in this case).

Besides, if there's a link within a string I haven't found any other solution than splitting that text in up to three parts: one before the link, the link text and the text after the link. When I entered the plain text, it didn't work, and when I entered the text like it is written in Transifex, (like "If you already have an account, <a href='%1'>please login</a> before completing this form."), all string substitutions were deleted.

Wow, that's strange... But now I understand why word replacement for me sometimes didn't work properly. However, I believe, that this behaviour is a bug...
