Quick check in?
November 01, 2013, 05:03:38 am
I am looking for ideas on a question from the staff.  They want to have a quick check-in procedure for an event where you dont know in advance who is coming but would like to collect names in the database without having a sign in sheet to data enter.  This would be for a youth group situation, so some attendees would be known, but others would just show up without registration in advance.

Would it make sense to do the following - make a group of known youth group members and print name badges on paper with QR codes.  They wouldn't have to wear the badge but the leader can scan the QR code to record attendance.  They would still have to get names from new kids to add to the group and reprint the list for the next time.

I haven't used civi name badges so I am assuming that the QR code does something useful like recording attendance at the event URL.

So this would have to be a recurring weekly event with this group as attendees.  Can you just mass-register a group for a recurring event?

Is there a better way to do this?
