CiviCRM keeps asking for membership type on registration page.

We have set up a WP install using the latest version of Civi and have run into the issue of the membership page not allowing registration of new members. When you go to sign up it throws the error: Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:
Select at least one option from Membership Type(s).
I have researched the boards and double checked my settings. The membership types and price fields all look correct. I am hoping that someone can help clarify this issue as we have a client in need of a CRM solution. Even with radio buttons and multiple fields offered under the options the page still denies registration with the same error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This may be a bug, or may be a misconfiguration. First step is to try reproducing the issue on the demo site.
