Editing organisation's details from Drupal user form duplicates website URL
November 07, 2013, 06:59:30 am
Hello all,

I'm having a problem in which when a user edit's their Civicrm profile, whether they make a change to the website URL or otherwise, an additional main website entry is created.

Please see what I mean in the following screen capture:

http://bit.ly/HIOjJw (Bit.ly link to an evernote/skitch screen capture PNG file.

I'm not really sure why this would be occurring. It has the affect of the original website address being the address shown on the user's profile and not the edited version.

Has anyone experienced this and if so, any ideas on how to resolve it? It is literally occurring on the website address and nowhere else.

hi welly

the bit.ly is to an evernote that i can only see if we have an evernote account (i do)

can you clarify, with a link, where these updates are happening - you say 'profile'

even better, can you replicate this on demo and provide links/steps to do so

No, it's actual public. I can also see it without any account.

But Peter's suggestions are good. Or perhaps send me and Peter a link to your site (if you prefer not to post it publicly) so we can see this problem in action.

Thanks for your replies - I'm going to set up a demo site for you to access and take a look, really appreciate any help you might be able to offer! It does look like someone else might have had a similar problem according to this thread.

http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,29873.msg127949.html#msg127949

Will send you both a PM when I have the demo site online.

Thanks!

I think we hit the same issue on civicrm.org and had multiple copies of the website field.

we think this has been fixed in 4.4.x, so please upgrade and check

thanx

Hi Lobo,

I've just updated to 4.4.1 on this particular install and have found the same issue is cropping up and annoyingly the delete link next to the website address on the Contact edit form is no longer working.

Alistair

the only thing that needs to be done on the demo site afaik is setting up a profile on Demo that has the website url - and confirming if going to 'my account' where i presume this issue is occuring, and editing the website field, and seeing if the duplication issue is happening there is really going to help on this.

I examined a demo of this site provided by welly and whereas I don't see this error, I do see that I can't change the website value--when I change and submit, it stays the same. The only possibility I can see is a problem with the hosting environment.

I do see that the Drupal status report says:

Code: [Select]
Database system MySQL, MariaDB, or equivalent
Database system version 5.1.69

which implies that the DB may not actually be MySQL. Do you know what DB server you are using?

Hi All,

I started a new thread about this same issue (http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,31170.0.html) but will now post in here to keep everything together.

As per my thread, I'm having the exact same issue as the OP.

I have tried updating CiviCRM to the latest version (4.4.3) but the issue is still occurring.

As per your request above, I have just now installed a completely fresh and blank Drupal 7.24 install with CiviCRM 4.4.3 (only other module is Administration Menu) and the issue is still occurring.

I've setup a demo as follows so you guys can see for yourself. Everything is set to defaults except I've granted auth users full Civicrm access, everything else is defaults. All I did was edit the default contact field to include the Contact > Website field.

http://civicrm.myrtec.biz
u/n: test
p/w: test1

  • Once logged in, edit the test profile here: http://civicrm.myrtec.biz/user/4
  • Click "Edit name and address" (http://civicrm.myrtec.biz/user/4/edit/Name%20and%20Address)
  • You'll see that I've already entered www.example.com
  • Before you do anything, open the user's contact profile in civicrm in a new tab: http://civicrm.myrtec.biz/civicrm/contact/view?reset=1&cid=3
  • Take note of how many "Home Website" entries there are - at the time of this there's two
  • Go back to the first tab and hit save
  • Go back to the 2nd tab and you'll now see three entries

rinse and repeat

you can change the website url or keep it the same and every time you hit save it adds a new website entry rather than overwriting/updating the existing one.

I'm thinking this isn't intended, surely the save button should update existing fields rather than add new ones?

Anyone get a chance to test in my demo environment?
