We are not a non-profit - far from it, but we like Drupal and are possibly looking for a solution to gate our content websites, provide e-commerce capabilities (buy research papers and other premium one-off content and ongoing subscriptions), and build an integrated database. We have 8mm unique subscribers. We're a media company with print magazines, websites, events, etc.

Just wanted to gauge people's thoughts on this. I do have a list of broad requirements that I think we need. Would be happy to share that if needed.

CiviCRM has been used by Bioneers (http://www.bioneers.org/) in a similar use case.

8 million subscribers will be one of the largest production installs I've heard of, so I would budget some resources and communication with the core team to work on performance. I wouldn't see performance as something to worry about.

The only thing to think about carefully is modeling SFA/ customer acquisition in CiviCRM... it can be done, but I'm not sure how many people have worked on that problem.
