Group & Membership Sync
November 15, 2013, 01:23:33 pm
I currently have everyone categorized by group. (Active & Inactive Members) -- I need one of two options to happen in order to keep the database consistent:

1. Each time a membership type changes it also changes the group that the member is in.

or

2. Each time a member is added to a group it changes the membership to the corresponding membership type.

Any suggestions?

Since I updated from 4.3.7 to 4.4.1 all of my Smart Groups that search on membership type are completely broken - I can't even edit them, just have to remove them and start again, and I can't figure out how to search on Membership status (i.e. Current/Pending/Expired). My entire functionality is based on these Smart Groups, so I'm a little concerned that this feature seems to have been removed.

Any suggestions on how to set it up?

I've now tried building this Membership search with the Search Builder. When I tried to save it as  Smart Group, it failed several times, and then suddenly worked!

Not quite sure what I did differently, though.

----EDIT----

Apparently when you Search, the Membership status gets deselected in the Search Builder for some reason. One of the things I had to do was to go back into the Search Criteria and reselect the Membership Status (I used an IN clause) before attempting to create a new Smart Group.

I also had some trouble deleting the old Smart Groups, but if I disabled them first and then deleted them then it worked fine.

Can i use smart groups in Drupal views? It does not show them as a field that is useable in views.
