Possible Bug - CiviCRM Not Importing Street Addresses
April 12, 2008, 03:15:11 pm
I'm importing a batch of contacts from CSV files using CiviCRM 2.0.2.  When I import from a CSV file, CiviCRM seems to be dropping the street addresses right out of the import.  It's not the CSV file because it displays the correct data in the Preview screens right before it improperly imports the data.  I've checked the other fields in the contact and I haven't simply mistagged the street address field.  It's just NOT importing the street addresses.  Everything else seems to import fine.

Is this a bug?

Actually... it's not importing my supplemental address lines either.  HELP!

OK... now I'm completely convinced that it's a bug.  On a hunch I removed my integration with the USPS standardization site from my CiviCRM global settings and it worked.  The funny thing is that every import I tried BEFORE removing that standardization provider (the USPS) had the mapping setting OFF during the import.  I'm guessing it was trying to map them anyway.

Lance-

When you have the USPS switched on, does manually entering an address and saving the contact work?

The mapping switch is for Google/Yahoo Maps geocoding, not address verification (that I'm aware).

I've done some good sized imports (10,000+) with 2.0.2 and haven't had any problems. I don't use the address stdz., but I'm guessing that it's either overloading the system with that switched on, or there are issues with your data and it's not able to resolve the standardization on import so it's leaving it blank.

Do the full import with address stdz. off, and then turn it on after the import. See if that function works as expected.

I am having a similary problem with phone numbers in my import csv file.  They are correctly entered in csv format, but are dropped when the contact is imported!

The demo server is located at demo.civicrm.org.

Visit the demo, login and import your csv file.

If the same behavior is observed you have reproduced the bug and can describe the steps for someone else to do the same thing.

Keep in mind the demo server is public so sanitize your csv file.
