Filter Data or Data Decision Trees

Apologies in advance if already addressed...

I'm creating an online registration facility for race competitors to enter our fund-raising event.  We've got 3 separate events (2km Run, 5km Run, 10km Run).

I've created a Profile for 'Competitor Entry'.  In this profile I've included a custom field called 'Event Name' (type=Participants) that has a multiple choice selection of 2k, 5k, 10k.

In this example, for the 2k run, this event is open to only grade-school age kids (years K thru 6).

If my competitor selects '2k' as the event they wish to register, I want certain subsequent fields to be displayed for their selection during the 'Competitor Entry' session, as opposed to having fields made available that aren't applicable to 2k entrants (but may be applicable to only 5k entrants).  For example, I would want to display a field called 'School Name' and 'School Year', which would only apply to entrants for the 2k, but not for entrants in the 5k.

How do I go about refining the fields displayed, based on certain other selections having been made early on in the process?

In addition, if I've got a family that would like to enter, say 4 family members in any number of our events, can the person doing the online registration place the entries for all 4 family members (e.g. add the entries to a shopping cart sort of thing)?

Thanks again & help...in a hurry!

...Doug

You cannot do either of your choices without some custom coding with civievent v2.0

You can potentially do the choice specific fields with javascript at the template level.

The multiple registration feature is planned for 2.1
