Profile info added to Contribute page doesn't show up in user record?
November 24, 2013, 04:34:27 am
Returning to Civi after having put it aside for a while so please pardon me if this is a basic question.

I set up a Contribute page and added a Profile to collect Name and Address information with the Name and Address profile by adding it via the Profiles tab.  I have selected to update the matching record in advanced settings of the Profile.  I have not selected to create a Drupal record, as I only want to update Civi at this time.

I made a contribution using the page with an email address already in the database, updating the address information which was not present previously.   I also tried manually entering address information and it does not seem to save.  Very odd.

I was expecting the address information to update, but it did not appear to do so.  What am I missing?

The reason I want to do this is because we are looking to add a large database of emails into our new Civi install with the intent of sending out a solicitation for donations.  When the users donate, we would like to update the current constituent record without the need for them to log into Drupal or Civi.  Of course, we would prefer to update the user record at the same time, or to at least collect a new record to merge at a later time.

V4.4.1

Thank you in advance for any insight you may be able to provide.

Thanks for the welcome back!  We finally got funding.

That's the odd thing.  The contribution does get recorded, even the name for a new email address.  But the address part does not appear to, unless it is hidden somewhere other then the address info section.

Next step, permission review.  If anyone knows where I can look at default permission settings, it would be helpful.  Someone was 'helping' and decided to change all the civi permissions for me...

Unfortunately, I would have no idea how to reproduce it as it clearly is something that usually works.  I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary, all plain vanilla.

I just tried turning off the USPS address checking thing to see if it was that, but no.  I also tried entering the address directly into the contact address screen and it does NOT save it.  The Profile DOES hold the data, at least long enough to display it as part of the contribution confirmation, but not in the user record??

This is a new install (done by Hershel) so one would imagine it would be a good install.  Are there any permissions on the address fields level I should look at? Anything that would prevent them from being saved?

The odd thing is that the first name and last name changes DO get saved.  It's just the address, city, and zip that do not.  The state is default and is saved..

UPDATE:

Thanks Lobo!

It turns out that when I thought I disabled USPS address checking, that it did not save.  I needed to not only change the provider in the drop down box, but I had to clear all three boxes.

Once address checking was disabled successfully, everything appears to be working correctly.

It looks like the address checker was bombing out but no error message was presented.

I will need to get around to that at some point.

I could use some tips on debugging this if you can think of anything.

And if you have any idea why I seem to attract all this weird kind of stuff and how I can avoid it, it would also be helpful ;)
