Member Since date range

One of my users is getting a message: Date must be between 01-01-1993 and 12-31-2033 when doing membership searches on member since date.  What is causing this?

We have several people where this is an intermittent problem.  I noticed that the date range limitation is also the dates available for the popup calendar window.

Are you talking about a single installation of CiviCRM where one of the users is getting a error message that no-one else does (this is what it reads like)?  If so, do they have exactly the same permission?

OR

Are you saying that one installation of CiviCRM is behaving differently from other installations.  In that case, go to Administer > Localization > Date Format and open  Advanced Date Input Settings.  Changing the Start Offset and End Offset for the searchDate may fix the problem.

Note added 2 hours later: This reply was being written whilst the original post was being altered, so the answer fits better with the original post than with the modified version.

Actually, the second option was the issue.  How long has this been there?

Thank you very much.

Since 4.2 at least.  Documentation seems to be missing so I have created an issue for it. http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-13843
