Reserved Deduping Rules
November 29, 2013, 05:04:01 am
Hi,
I am trying to implement CiviCRM for my parish, where different individual contacts may share a common email
But the "Email (reserved)" dedupe rule prevents registration of such common email individual owners
And, since it is "reserved", I can't inactivate this rule
Has anyone a suggestion ?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried creating a new rule for eg First + Last + Email and setting that to be the Unsupervised rule?

I did (which actually changed the previous unsupervised rule as "General"),

But I had to modify this new rule, and now I cannot save it as "unsupervised" (usage field remains empty when I save, whatever I do), and I (thus) get the message "Unsupervised rule for Individual does not exist" when I want to create a new Individual.

I tried to delete the new rule and re-create a new one, but "unsupervised" remains impossible.

An other suggestion ?

can you try and reproduce this behavior on demo. If you do so, please file an issue along with the exact steps to reproduce the issue

thanx

What do you mean by "on demo" ?

I enclose a screen copy showing the problem ("Nom, Prénom, Courriel" rule) (sorry for being in french)
If I edit the rule and click "unsupervised" ("automatique" in french) and then save, this is what I get. ("General" is the only usage that I can save)
... and now, any new rule I create will behave the same.

Unfortunately, I cannot go back to a safe level where I could start from : I think that something is now corrupted (but what ?)

I wonder if the problem is not a consequence of french translation (since it works for "General" which is "Général" in french : almost the same)

FYI, I use a local (wamp) version installed on my PC, I am not a developper, and I am just testing and investigating how I could configure CiviCRM for my purpose ; so, I can reinstall all of it if necessary

Thank you for your help

Up in the main menu at top of this page is Demo which links to https://civicrm.org/go/demo
Choose the WordPress one and see if you can replicate the problem there. Thanks

I found the demo : there, it works fine : no problem (I could not reproduce the bug)

But the demo is only in english (US), and I can't test it in french (I am still thinking of a translation problem)

Would that help if I sent you a sample of some files ? Tell me which
Or could the demo be localized in French (which requires civicrm-4.4.2-l10n.tar.gz on the demo server), so that I could test there my own configuration ?

I won't reply now : it is 11:00 PM in France

... but thanks again

others may know better - ah

do you have access to you db

if so do you have 'other language' versions of civicrm_dedupe_rule and/or civicrm_dedupe_rule_group

wondering if this is one of those cases where the interface won't let you save changes but also won't give you access to the eg _FR version of the tables

if so you may be able to get what you want by editing the table directly?

the rule_group table is where you would see General or Supervised or Unsupervised

bon chance

Others may know better : sure ! (and thanks !)

We are on the way ...

There is no "other language" versions of those tables (I did not found any)

I edited the table civicrm_dedupe_rule_group and modified the "Use" of my rule (which was empty) manually to "Unsupervised" (as suggested)

And now, it works fine

I suppose your wondering is right
Shoudn't I submit this issue ? (I think it's a bug)

FYI, "chance" is feminin in french ; so, you should write "Bonne chance" (which I appreciate)
As a matter of fact, where are you based ? (myself, near Paris, at La Celle Saint Cloud (78170))

Thanks again a lot for your help

Lobo,
I cannot change the language to french on the (WordPress/CiviCRM) demo
(via Administer > Configuration checklist > Localization > Default Language) :
Only "English (US)" is proposed
Is there an other way ?
