New Drupal install - can't read civiCRM menu due to CSS clash
December 05, 2013, 04:03:00 pm
Hi,

I've installed civiCRM on our test site so I can plan an integration, but I can't read any submenu items as they are white text on a pale background. The background colour is used on our site, so there must be some css precedence issue.
Our drupal theme is a custom zen sub-theme.
Unfortunately, a document inspector isn't pinpointing the css rule responsible - possibly because it is being loaded via jQuery rather than in a linked css file.
Most of my uses of that colour seem to have a low specificity, so I'm surprised they are winning out.

I have been editing /sites/all/modules/civicrm/packages/jquery/css/menu.css but nothing I do in this file is having any effect. I was wondering if that instance of jQuery gets used if the Drupal site is already using its bundled jquery package (which doesn't seem to have any equivalent stylesheet).

Has anyone struck similar problems and how did you fix them?

Firebug will show you the exact css rule simply by right-clicking and selecting "inspect element" when hovering over the item in question.

Also, consider using a stock admin theme like Seven on civicrm pages. (using the CiviCRM Theme module).

That module is Drupal 6 only.

As I said, an object inspector (more than one) isn't showing any style rule setting background-color.

The drupal 7 version of the module is shipped with CiviCRM core - just enable it :)
