Contribution Status Cannot change contribution status from In Progress to Compl

Just upgraded to 4.3.0 (D7)

Can't change the payment status from In Progress to Completed.

Any advice?

You need to upgrade to 4.3.8, the most recent 4.3.X version (if not to the latest version, 4.4.3) and see if the problem persists.

Thanks for your response. I have tried duplicating on the demo site. It seems that the status rules have changed somehow. Don't want to start whining, but where's the rub here? It doesn't seem to make sense to me.

To recreate:
1) Create a Membership and and record a Contribution
2) Mark it "In Progress"
3) Save and then return to the edit Membership -> edit the Contribution
4) The status now says "Complete"
5) There is no option for In Progress in the dropdown!! Wt...?

Additionally it automatically switches the payment status to Completed and I cannot go back to In Progress. Likewise, you can never change a payment that was marked Complete back to In Progress. Once the Contribution is saved the In Progress option disappears.

In the absence of a proper way to handle part payments (I've heard talk of this development but I don't think it exists - least not in 4.3 anyway), the In Progress status is crucial. It should be noted that "In Progress" was the only viable workaround for handling outstandings, as my understanding is that "Pending" means zero payment has been received (similar in a sense to "Grace"). Its removal seems bonkers at this point.

Saw this post too http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,29396.msg126044.html#msg126044  Similar issue.

This is our only method of tracking outstandings so I'd really appreciate if someone could give us a hand with this. Maybe I'm missing something right out of the box?

The 'In Progress' status was specifically intended for use with Pledge records. It denotes a pledge that has had one or more outstanding payments completed (but still has outstanding payments due). The status was intentionally blocked for use in the contribution form - because all status changes require specific accounting data transitions:

Explicit support for partial payments was not funded for 4.3 or 4.4. However, we have received funding to implement this for event registrations in 4.5 - and this will provide a foundation for extending to memberships. You can follow developments on this under this 'epic issue': http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-13956 (spec in progress)

In the meantime - in 4.4 it's impossible to update a contribution w/ In Progress status so we'll need to come up w/ a fix for those of you who are using that 'work-around'. I've asked Joe Murray to look at viable options. Issue filed here:
