HTML Form Snippet in Wordpress not working
December 10, 2013, 02:19:30 pm
I created a Profile and am trying to use it on a public page on my WordPress install. It works without a problem if I insert the Profile into my page using the CiviCRM button. However if I use the HTML Form Snippet, I get nowhere.

The reason I'm wanting to use a snippet instead of the insert shortcode button is that I wish to customise the form (both the HTML and the preselected options of drop downs). Even when using the snippet without any editing of the code, when I submit the form, I am redirected to my "home" page, and the information isn't added to the database.

The link I get after submitting through the snippet generated form is:
http://mydomain.org/index.php?page=CiviCRM&q=civicrm/profile/create&gid=13&reset=1

OTOH, if I submit data through the form generated with the shortcode, the data goes in properly, and I am redirected to the correct page (a thank you page created for that purpose).

I've gone through the forum, the Book, the wiki, and I've seen many people having issues, but no solution that i can find to this specific issue.

//EDIT: On a whim, I changed the theme to the default Twenty Thirteen, and suddenly the HTML Form Snippet worked without a problem. So it ain't a CiviCRM issue but a theme one. What would be the best way to identify where the problem lies, so I can figure out how to fix it?

Any pointer would be greatly appreciated.

This seems to relate to the problems I'm having, but still, no fix.

I started futzing with it and realized that the HTML snipped was not grabbing the URL for the form properly. I changed it *away* from index.php in the System Settings >> CMS Database Integration and it wasn't taking the new setting. By manually changing the form and replacing index.php with the name of my custom file (it appears *twice*!) I was able to kludge it together. But it introduced a weird spacing issue that I can't diagnose. But at least the form appears to work.

phdeviate,

This was the solution that worked for me too!  I also submitted a bug report about HTML snippets not respecting the Wordpress base page setting: https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-15933
