Search error
April 23, 2007, 08:09:55 pm
When I am searching for a contact, I often see the following error:

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
Could not find valid Key

Strangely, when I search for example for "d" (all contact with that start with "d" in the last name), it works fine, but if I search for "s" I get the error above.  Also searching for "smith" gives me the same error.  Searching for "jackson" works fine - but "jones" gives me the error.

What is going on?

is this with the civicrm sample data?

most likely u r using an older version of drupal where the sessions are not stored in utf8. The sample data has some utf8 characters in them which get corrupts and destroys the session resulting in the behavior u've seen

I am using the latest Drupal and am still getting the errors.  Is there an easy way to purge all contacts and start over?

yes, just load civicrm_41.mysql and civicrm_data.mysql into your civicrm db.

No contacts or sample data is created in this case

Thanks, that worked and seemed to clear the issue.  You might want to mention to anyone in the future that has this problem that they need to disable the module first before loading the tables or it will crash.
